How to create a Dot Texteffect

In this tutorial I show you how to create a nice dot effect on text while using gratiants & colour halftones.
Hope you Enjoy!
Step 1
Select text and use “Type” -> “Create Outline”
Step 2
Select text again and use “Object” -> “Offset Path…”
Step 3
Now assign a colourful gradient to the inner path.
Step4
Copy the inner path and “Paste in Front” the colourful gradient.
Step 5
Now we gonna use “Effect” -> “Pixelate” -> “Colour Halftone”
Assign all channels to the same number (45/45/45/45).
Step 6
Now we got the dot effect! But we want it as an vector effect, because what we don’t want are problems with the resolution.
Step 7
Next step go to “Object” -> “Rasterize…”
Step 8
The “Resolution:” should be 300dpi
Step 9
Now we select “Object” -> “Live Trace” -> “Make”
Step 10
Now use the “Magic Wand” to select all white areas and delete them.
Step 11
The dots are vectors
Step 12
Now we are able to assign a other colour to the dots (In my case – white)
Step 13
Go to “Window” -> “Transparency” -> “Overlay”
Step 14
Pure Happiness!
