How to create a 3D Logo Object
In this tutorial i’ll show you how to use den new 3D function in Photoshop CS4, under the help of masks!
With this function you can create great logos.
Hope you Enjoy!
1. Create a new document.

2. Create a new layer.

3. Create a vector object and save the working path into a path.

4. Choose the path under pressing “Ctrl”. Now your path is a selection. In the next step you fill your selection with the colour of your choice. In my case red.

5. Now choose your layer and select a Ball out of the layer in your 3D menu.

6. Now you got your object on the 3D Ball.

7. Select your original vector object in the layer menu. The vector object should appear in a new window with the data format .psb!

8. In this data format you can work on the original layer. If you save the PSB-file the changes also appear in the 3D layer.

9. Select the path under pressing “Ctrl”. Fill the selection with white.

10. Now activate the selection again and set a layermask. The Background disappears. Attention!!! Because of the mask save the file as PSD.

11. Go back to your 3D document. Open the 3D tool.

12. Now load the saved PSD file as texture at the point opacity.

13. As you see, we finally got a 3D object without the white pieces. These 3D objects are great logo elements in my opinion.

Good Afternoon,
I was wondering where you are getting step 5 from?
5. Now choose your layer and select a Ball out of the layer in your 3D menu.
I have looked all around illustrator and I dont see this effect anywhere.. Is there a way you can break that down a bit for me?
Thanks!
